Dust in the Wind
Walking through the neighborhood today on the way home from Lighthouse Yoga, I picked up a book of poetry from one of those sweet little free libraries that sit in front yards. I’m always on the lookout for words that move me, something I can bring into class or tuck into my pocket as inspiration. As I walked, I flipped through the pages, hoping something would land. But nothing quite stuck. Just a few blocks later, I passed another little library and without much thought, I placed the book right back in. It was in my hands for maybe fifteen minutes. A temporary exchange, and yet something about it felt just right.
That moment felt like a quiet reminder of impermanence. How everything comes and goes....thoughts, feelings, stories, relationships, even books we carry for a while and then release. In yoga, we are constantly practicing the art of letting go. We breathe in, we breathe out. We enter a pose, we leave it. We observe ourselves changing from the beginning of class to the end. Our practice is never fixed, it shifts with our energy, with the seasons, with our inner world. Just like that poetry book, some things serve us for a time, and then it's time to set them free.
Travel mirrors this too. We land in a new place, soak in the unfamiliar sights and sounds, and then we leave never quite the same. The cities, the people, the conversations, they live in us for a while and then drift into memories. Impermanence isn’t something to fear; it is what makes every experience more vivid, more meaningful. It asks us to be present. To carry what serves us and release what doesn’t. To trust that the letting go is just as essential as the holding on.
Morocco 2025 you blew me wide open.
As everything shifts and passes, we’re reminded to embrace the beauty of each fleeting moment. If your heart is nudging you toward new horizons, the invitation is open for upcoming retreats. Say yes before the moment slips away.
